Review: The Jane Eyre

We’ll keep this one quick…

You can find The Jane Eyre at One Cutting Room Square, the heart of Ancoats.

Launched last year by two brothers, Joe and Jonny Eyre, she is already starting to feel like an important part of the Manchester family! Expect classic cocktails, brilliant local beers and British style tapas.

Wild Mushroom Risotto, Serano Ham Hock Croquettes, Seared Scallops

We stopped by one lazy Sunday afternoon to sample some small plates from their refreshingly simple Menu. There’s a board full of Specials but as far as we’re concerned it should all be listed underneath the word Special!

Perfectly proportioned; both the bar’s interior design and the dishes themselves, we ordered 5 or 6 plates and found something to love in all of them. Struggling to pick a favourite, it was a pleasant surprise to find even an eclectic selection coming together excellently as an ensemble.

In our opinion at this price point The Jane Eyre should be preferred over some of the, let’s say, more established ‘small plate places’. If you’re after casual dinning and a few drinks with friends then look no further.

With Brunch on the weekends and the late night drinking bases covered what more could you want?

Roasts? …sure, they’re starting serving those this weekend. See you there!
